I challenge you, to read this to yourself or read this aloud....when you read this I can guarantee you will start making self affirmations! Claim this today!

_______________________________

the SECRET.....
I promise myself

To be so strong, that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my FRIENDS feel that there is something worthwhile in the.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To thin only of the best, to work only for the best.

and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of

other as I am about my own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on tot he

greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile

to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I

have no time to criticize other

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,

and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the word,

not in loud words, but in great deeds.

To live in faith that the whole world is on my side,

so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

- Christian D. Larson

{Whats the 4-1-1 / }

Stevie Wonder is not having triplets!!! The Motown legend was on The View this week promoting his Songs In The Key Of Life tour. Wonder confirmed he and his girlfriend, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, just had a baby last year, and this year, she is pregnant again, but with only one child! It's a girl, and they are naming her Nia. Stevie Wonder is 64-years old. He is still in divorce proceedings with Fashion Designer Kai Miller. Oops They were married for 11 years, and they have two kids ages 9 and 13. In a recent statement, Miller says Stevie has his own life and she has hers. Miller wishes him well, and right now she is concentrating on her clothing line, which debuts next summer. Wonder has eight children, ranging in age from 1 - 39 but he's been dogged by rumors of more. Some sources say he's got up to 22 children with many of them living in Africa. Wonder hasn't commented on those allegations of other children. The That Girl singer is in concert in Philly on Sunday, November 16th at The Wells Fargo Center.

Speaking of The View, Rosie O'Donnell is butting heads again with show producers. O'Donnell now wants guest approval over all those appearing on the show. Sources say producers are so fed up with O'Donnell's behavior, talk is going around the studio that she might be bi-polar. O'Donnell is still upset that Whoopi Goldberg remains moderator and retains the big chair. Also, O'Donnell isn't feeling new co-hosts Actress Rosie Perez and Former George W. Bush Communications Director and Political Commentator Nicolle Wallace, a conservative. The season is still new, but the problems and turmoil continue to mount. Will ABC step in and drop the ax on someone?!!

The Queen Latifah Show may be in trouble. The show airs locally at 3pm on CBS3. Despite the great looking set, A-List celebrities and The Queen herself looking fabulous, the show has not been a ratings success. The big question seems to be: can the show survive to a third season in a field already crowded with talk shows? The show recently made headlines when Comedian Bill Cosby backed out of appearing on the show in light of recent allegations against him regarding women who claim the star drugged and assaulted them. The Queen's people were accused of cancelling Cosby, but they set the record straight that it was the comedian himself who cancelled. Cosby is laying low with the news of these recent reports. He is trying to launch another TV comeback next year for NBC. As for Queen Latifah, she’s hosting The Hollywood Film Awards this Friday, November 14th on CBS.

Terrence Howard says he has to get his financial life in order. Howard owes the I.R.S. over a million dollars, and he says that's got to be taken care of before he can dole out money to his ex-wife. Howard's ex-wife, Michelle Ghent, wants a half million dollars in spousal fees, and she wants Howard to pay her legal fees. Ghent was married to Howard for a little over a year. Howard says he can only afford to give her $2,000 a month. This January, the Oscar nominee has a new drama series launching on FOX called Empire, which has to be one of the most anticipated shows in a long time. Empire is a hip hop drama produced and directed by Oscar nominated Filmmaker Lee Daniels, and it also stars Oscar nominated Actress Taraji P. Henson.

Singer Robin Thicke has a court date February 10th with the family of the late Marvin Gaye. Thicke and Singer/Producer Pharrell Williams lost out in a new ruling by a judge who feels the duo wrongfully sampled Gaye's 1977 Motown classic Got To Give It Up for their smash Blurred Lines. Thicke tried to wiggle of out the lawsuit by claiming he was high on drugs and alcohol last year. Thicke also said it was Pharrell who took the lead on putting the song together and not him. In better news for Pharrell, he's gracing the latest edition of Ebony magazine. It’s the 2014 Men’s Issue, and the Happy singer gives a candid interview.

Janet Jackson is sporting a new look. Jackson, 48, appeared in public looking a little off. Did she have a facelift? Is too much botox? Jackson is sporting severely arched eyebrows; she has no lines in her face and her nose appeared smaller. She also had a puffy look about her, but that could be attributed to weight gain. There was a lot of speculation on why she wasn’t smiling. Her face is probably frozen from what she had done. Janet was already gorgeous…so, what happened?!!!! Is she afraid of getting older? Janet has been living in the Middle East and converted to Islam when she married Billionaire Businessman Wissam Al Mana.

Johnny Gill is enlisting New Edition and Bobby Brown for his latest album marking the first time in 10 years they've recorded together. They all have been touring together but not recording. Gill's latest album, The Game Changer, comes out December 9th. Babyface is also helping out with the project.

In other New Edition news, Bobby Brown will be in house at The Soul Train Awards. He will be performing along with Kem, Aloe Blacc and Lisa Stansfield. There will also be a reunion of Missy Elliott and Da Brat. The Soul Train Music Awards air Sunday, November 30th on BET and Centric. Wendy Williams is hosting and Kool & The Gang will be the night's big honorees. There’s also going to be a Jodeci reunion. Yes! K-Ci, JoJo, DeVante, Swing and Mr. Dalvin will all be in the house.

The movie Fast & Furious 7 arrives in theatees April 3rdActor Paul Walker died during filming of the movie, but will still be seen on the big screen. Fast & Furious keeps up the tradition by being packed full of action. Walker's co-stars Vin Diesel, Tyrese, Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez are all back!.

Kevin Hart returns to the big screen January 16th in the movie The Wedding Ringer.

Donald Trump has announced the line up for the new season of Celebrity Apprentice which includes Actress Vivica A. Fox, former Football Star Terrell Owens, Journalist Geraldo Riviera, Cosby Kid Keisha Knight Pulliam and Real Housewives of Atlanta Star Kenya Moore.Celebrity Apprentice returns to NBC on Sunday, January 4th at 9pm.

A brand new box set from Queen Bey will hit shelves just in time for the holidays. Speculation was running wild that Queen Bey was working on another secret album. Instead, The Beyonce Platinum Edition Box Set will be released November 24th. The set consists of two DVD's and two CD's which will include a photo booklet, 10 live performances, 14 songs and 17 music videos among other treats. Mrs. Carter is on a roll because she was also named Forbes Magazine's highest paid woman in music with an estimated $115 million taken in last year from touring, appearances and music sales.

Speaking of Bey, her life story is coming to bookstores next fall. Noted Biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli will be writing about everything Beyonce......from her childhood to Destiny's Child....from her solo career to her marriage to Jay-Z. Beyonce is not cooperating with the project, which is still untitled and scheduled to be released in the fall of 2015. Taraborrelli is known for his unauthorized celebrity tell-alls on Michael Jackson, Cher, Frank Sinatra and Madonna. He kicked it all off 25 years ago with his best seller Call Her Miss Ross on the unauthorized biography on Motown Legend Diana Ross. In more Beyonce news, you can have the former Destiny's Child member all year long. Beyonce is releasing a new calendar for 2015.

Congrats go out to another former Destiny's Child member! Singer Kelly Rowland and her manager/husband Tim Witherspoon welcomed a baby boy. Titan Jewell Witherspoon is the couple's first child. Published reports say mother, son and father are doing very well according to the third former Destiny's child member Singer Michelle Williams.

Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx and Oscar Nominee Quvenzhane Wallis grace the cover of the December issue of Essence magazine. The two are co-starring in the newest big screen version of the movie musical Annie. The original film came out in 1982, and was a Broadway sensation before that. Jay-Z and Will Smith are producing this version, which also stars Cameron Diaz. Annie opens in theatres December 19th.

Jenny From The Block has a biography on bookshelves, but this time not only is it with her cooperation, but it's her own words. The book is called True Love and will be published in English and Spanish with proceeds benefiting The Lopez Family Foundation, which is a women and children's advocacy non-profit. True Love is on bookshelves now, and the autobiography will focus on the two years of Lopez's life that brought her greatest challenges as a parent and a performer.

Hometown Little League Pitching Phenom Mo’ne Davis has another sport in mind, and reveals where she would love to play. It's all in Teen Vogue magazine. The 13-year old Davis talks of her goal to play basketball at the University of Connecticut. This month, she’s also featured in Harper’s Bazaar and Time magazines. In Time, Davis was listed with Malia and Sasha Obama among Time’s 25 Most Influential Teens. The South Philly native is also featured in a new documentary that was directed by Spike Lee.

On November 14th, it’s the movie Beyond The Lights. The movie stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Undercovers; Belle), Nate Parker (The Great Debaters; Red Tails) and Minnie Driver. The movie shows the life a female superstar and the ugly side of fame. It's from Writer/Director Gina Prince Bythewood, who brought us Love & Basketball.

Oscar Winner Halle Berry is teaming up with Target for a line of affordable lingerie. Stylish underwear with great budget options for $20 or less. Berry will be returning for a second season of her CBS sci-fi drama Extant. Plus, the Oscar winner is also producing new shows for CBS, including a medical drama.

Tyra Banks is returning to daytime TV. The supermodel will be joining forces for a new ABC talker called The Fab. Banks' third shot at daytime will include a crew of lifestyle experts: Mrs. John Legend, a.k.a Supermodel Chrissy Teigen, Fashion Guru Joe Zee, Interior Designer Lauren Makk and Do It Yourself youtube Blogger Leah Ashley. Producers want to go after the same audience that's tuning into The Real.

Tyler Perry has a different way to bring us Madea. Madea’s Tough Love comes out on HD January 13th and VOD January 20th. So, what’s the twist? It’s an animation. That’s right! Tyler Perry will kick off 2015 with Madea’s first animated feature.

At the movies, Dear White People, the award-winning, critically acclaimed movie is coming to Philly. Dear White People is a comedy satire by Justin Simien, who wrote, produced and directed the movie. The film is a satire about being a black face in a white place. I found it to be funny and the cast refreshing. They do a great job dealing with racial politics. The movie stars Tyler James Williams from Everybody Hates Chris, Tessa Thompson (Veronica Mars), who is outstanding, Teyonah Parris, Brandon Bell, Kyle Gallner and Dennis Haysbert (24).

Tickets are on sale now for the WDAS Holiday Jam. WDAS Radio is partnering with Soul Train for a great night of music with Jill Scott, Kem, Faith Evans, Joe and Ledisi on Black Friday, November 28th at the Liacouras Center, Broad and Montgomery.  Oprah Winfrey has been added to Barbara Walters’ 2014’s 25 Most Fascinating People. That special airs December 14th on ABC.

Singer Jennifer Holliday is returning with a new music album. The Song Is You will feature Holliday singing Jazz, R&B and pop standards. Holliday shot to stardom in the 80’s with the Broadway hit Dreamgirls and her classic And I’m Telling You. Over the years, Holliday has battled clinical depression and multiple sclerosis (MS).

The Lifetime network is getting ready to unveil a slew of movies. The Aaliyah movie, Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B, will air on Lifetime Saturday, November 15th. Nickelodeon Star Alexandra Shipp plays the late singer, and Wendy Williams is the executive producer of the project. Taraji P. Henson is producing and starring in Seasons Of Love. The movie also stars LeToya Luckett and Gladys Knight and will air Sunday, November 23rd. The night before it’s an En Vogue Christmas starring En Vogue and David Alan Grier. The ladies are reunited for a holiday movie. On Saturday, December 13th, it’s the movie The Santa Con starring Jaleel White and Wendy Williams as a preacher.

The Best Of Whitney Houston is a new Live CD that's coming out November 10thHouston died two years ago, and the CD will honor her musical legacy. Music Legend Clive Davis, who guided Houston through her biggest career success, supervised the music selection by picking Houston's performances at the peak of her career. {Love My Monthly Priority Boxes!!}

Now I KNOW I am not the only one who anticipates a box like this waiting for you when you get home from a long days work!

Let me re-phrase...if you are a scrapbooker, the possibilities are endless...as for myself...I am like a kid who opens up a gift on 12/25...its heaven...I love it!

My priority box comes from the Scrap Room on a monthly basis! There are very few months that I am not too crazy about the lines I am mailed for the month, but for most parts they definitely do  fantastic job keeping up with whats hot, cute, cool, whatever verbiage you would like to use!

There is a basic base kit that comes with 4 lines of paper. With each line you get coordinating card stock and some embellishment to go with.  Besides the "flavor of the month" (the base kit) you can also get "add-ons". Add-ons can consist of:

- Double Shot Kit
- Embellishment Kit
- Bazzill Kit
- Printed Paper Kit
- Stamp Kit
- Project Life Club

All are dope. I currently receive the Double Shot which basically is 2 extra lines (sounds like crack huh), and also the embellishment kit. No such thing as too many of anything!

So...with that said, here is a sample of what they are offering this month:

Flavor of the Month Kit

Double Shot Kit

Project Life Kit Club

Patterned Paper Kit

Bazzill Kit

Stamp Kit

Thats it for now!
Thanks for stopping by!

{The Struggles of a Young Black Girl}

**Disclaimer....1.) its my blog, 2.) This is from my perspective as a black woman reminiscing how it use to be as a young black girl, 3.) If you get offended, go take a nap...

Not to say that every culture does not have their own struggles with hair, I am sure you do HOWEVER it seems that our recollections of the trauma we went through as young girls are almost always similar!

The conversation you will read below is a REAL conversation with REAL SISTAHS  with REAL LIFE experiences.
I have a special group of ladies that I speak to on the daily and our convos range from A-Z...sleepless nights, our sick children, our INTELLIGENT and wise children, our growing children, our jobs, our economy, encouragement, spirituality, food, tv, life period! We talk about it all!

This particular night....we were discussing one of the too many award shows that cater to the urban industry...we got on the topic of rappers today and basically how they are wack...most not all.  The conversation took off from there.  It was one of the BEST, COMEDIC conversations that I have had in awhile..., 5 ladies, reminiscing on our childhood and what we all at one time or another had to experience and had to endure...there was no getting around it! The memories of the distinct smells of perm / relaxer, pressed hair / burning hair, cholesterol conditioner, the sizzle of the pressing comb due to the hair being damp, or the accident of pressing comb touching your neck, ear, or fo-head...

Im not the only one...who remembers this scent..I liked it actually...lol

Now, if you are from our culture or extremely close to someone of our culture, you should know that anything having to do with or hair is just not the bizness....it ALWAYS a process...ALWAYS!
I still love the looks I get when we:
1.) Explain why we don't have to wash our hair daily
2.) Why we don't get lice
3.) Why we get the Gremlin / Stripe syndrome when we are near water
4.) How we can walk into work one day with short hair and come tomorrow with long hair, then back with shorter hair 2 days ago
5.) Why when we "perm" our hair and when others "perm" their hair...means  different 2 different things and will result in 2 different outcomes
6.) Knows the struggle of this...
7.) Why we couldn't swim or get anywhere near water after a fresh press and curl...
OMG...you know my list can continue, but I think you are catching my drift.

What do you know about this:

Or this:

If you haven't seen Chris Rocks, "Good Hair" watch the trailer here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m-4qxz08So

Is there such thing as good hair and bad hair?
I can go on and on about this topic as a black woman..but my main reason for this post to take you through this conversation that we thoroughly enjoyed having, reminiscing and just clowning around!

The struggle was really real and it is still a struggle for many today!
Please enjoy the dialogue below...I did the tedious job to black out the names to protect the innocent...LOL! I did not care to black myself out because I was apart of the convo and wanted to post about it!
***Keep in mind, this was a fast paced convo, which resulted in a few typos, and excuse the language...clown session was in full effect.

Crazy Bunch 10/14/14

So there you have it.
When we say there is a struggle....WE ARE SERIOUS!!!! Check the funny below:

At the end of the day....as adults, we are now in charge of taking care of our own hair...and I would like to say we are all happy with what we have going on. In our culture, today, going "natural" has just taken off and soared to higher heights! I mean in a real way. Going natural just isn't in the cards for everyone though...still because of the struggle! Going natural isn't for everyone...lol...its not.  For some it may be a choice and others, maybe not so much. Wearing our hair natural has been more accepted today than yesterday. YES. Our little girls get teased, catch heat because of our hair and the things we can and cannot do. This post can result in 2-3 more post as I know some of you reading may be thoroughly confused...lol.
